Image: Hard Candy, a new play from Dragonfly Theatre Company managing director Jean Gottlieb, features UGA Theatre faculty both "on stage" and behind the scenes. Professor Kristin Kundert portrays "Agnes Barton" in the show and MFA alumna Vallea Woodbury acts alongside her in the role of "Terra Matteson." Hard Candy was first performed on May 28, 2021 and has been picked up for publication by Next Stage Press. Behind the scenes, MFA alumna Stephanie Murphy directed the production and also serves as the co-artistic director of Dragonfly Theatre Company. Hard Candy will see its virtual world premiere presentation at the Borderlight International Theatre and Fringe Festival July 22 - 31, 2021 Synopsis: Hard Candy is a laugh out loud, adult themed comedy that takes a revealing look at the human side of the phone sex industry. A consultant for the phone sex industry signs on to help a small company and finds a group of women struggling with more than slow business growth. As she navigates through a series of revelatory online meetings, the consultant comes to realize this eccentric family of women has just as much to offer her as she has to offer them.
