Admissions

No audition or portfolio is required for entrance to the major, which is open to any student, but prospective students are encouraged to visit the department in person if possible, contacting Student Support and Outreach Coordinator Dina Canup to schedule a tour. We also attend Georgia Thespian Conference and Southeastern Theatre Conference annually, in order to speak with prospective students and attend auditions.

We also strongly encourage prospective students to attend our annual Behind the Scenes prospective student workshop day each April. Some years, High school seniors may compete for our Cora Miller Fine Arts Scholarship, with in-person interviews and auditions occurring at Behind the Scenes.

Once admitted to the University or major is added, new theatre majors should contact the Ms. Canup for incoming student information and recommendations.

Our musical theatre certificate program is audition-based, with auditions open to UGA theatre, music, or dance majors. Prospective UGA students may schedule a pre-screening audition if they wish to submit a video to George Contini.
