First Semester and other KCACTF News

Congratulations to undergraduate Wyn Alyse Thomas, whose original musical First Semester was selected by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) to be honored at its Region IV event from February 4-8. Thomas has been invited to organize a concert reading of the piece, which will be heard by seasoned playwriting experts and further considered for the KCACTF National Festival. First Semester: The Musical was chosen as the 2023 winner of the department’s New Georgia Group Award, receiving a workshop production slot in the 2023-2024 season. The concert reading will feature original workshop cast members Bianca Cardona, Jenna Gubran, and more. 

In other KCACTF news, faculty member Chelsea Taylor was recently invited to serve as deputy stage management coordinator for the same Region IV festival at which First Semester will be read. 

And finally, UGA Theatre’s production of Dolly Parton and Patricia Resnick’s 9 to 5 from last semester received a substantial 15 nominations for KCACTF's Region IV Festival. Nominations listed below:
