Dr. Amma Ghartey-Tagoe Kootin has been selected as a 2019 TED Fellow for her work "across academia and the entertainment industry to transform archival material about black identity into theatrical performances." She will give a TED talk in April about her work.

Dr. Freda Scott Giles, associate professor emerita of theatre and film studies and African-American studies, has been selected to give the 17th annual Founders Day Lecture on Monday, January 28, 1:30-3:30 pm at the UGA Chapel.

Congratulations to Jieun Lee, winner of UGA's Robert C. Anderson Memorial Award. This highly competitive award is given to recent Ph.D.s for outstanding research at the university or immediately after graduating.

Congratulations to MFA dramatic media student Sam Hudson, who won the award for the Most Innovative Research Award in the 2018 Spotlight on the Scholarship in the Arts Poster Exhibition Competition.

Martin Damien Wilkins, guest director of UGA Theatre's upcoming production of In the Blood, won the highly-coveted Suzi Bass Award for Best Director in the 2017-2018 Atlanta theatre season.
