George Contini has just been selected as a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor. This highly prestigious teaching professorship is one of the highest honors the University of Georgia awards for instructional excellence.

While the bustling theatre scene in Atlanta has its fair share of artisans, theatres still utilize current UGA faculty and graduate students for their productions, not to mention the alumni who occupy both the spotlight and backstage areas. 

Dr. Amma Ghartey-Tagoe Kootin has been selected as a 2019 TED Fellow for her work "across academia and the entertainment industry to transform archival material about black identity into theatrical performances." She will give a TED talk in April about her work.

Dr. Freda Scott Giles, associate professor emerita of theatre and film studies and African-American studies, has been selected to give the 17th annual Founders Day Lecture on Monday, January 28, 1:30-3:30 pm at the UGA Chapel.

Congratulations to Jieun Lee, winner of UGA's Robert C. Anderson Memorial Award. This highly competitive award is given to recent Ph.D.s for outstanding research at the university or immediately after graduating.
